New Career at Galfar Engineering

At HSE induction of GALFAR.
My first job abroad very much excited for this opportunity with Galfar Engineering & Contracting SAOG which is one of the largest, multi-disciplined engineering, contracting and construction company in the Sultanate of Oman. Established in the year 1972 it came a long way.
I am appointed as a QC Engineer here still, I am not assigned to any Project it's being a week here in the head office and every day we are attending awesome training on different topics.
And by the way, Muscat is beautiful.

Grout Plant
Grout Plant for TBM 1 and 2 at Launching Chamber of New Delhi Metro ready to blend.
As the Herrenknecht TBM uses annular grouting system with two-component grout through-the-tailskin. This grout plant errection was at top priority.
So this grout batching system incorporates two storage silos, a colloidal mixer, agitation tank, water delivery system, two high pressure Mocol hydraulic pumps and a sodium silicate delivery system.
The colloidal mixer serves as a mixer, scale and pump, weighing water and cement directly. Bentonite, as a ‘micro-ingredient’ is per-weighed in a smaller weigh hopper at top of the container. Liquid admix is dosed into the mixer.
Grout is stored in the agitation tank and pumped to holding tanks on the TBM backup when needed.
Mat fixing for Shotcrete
Wire Mesh Fixing for Shotcrete at Launching chamber of New Delhi Metro...
PURPOSE
To ensure rock slope/ opening stability. It acts as reinforcement for the shotcrete.
MATERIAL SPECIFICATION
Steel wire shall be of strength grade Fe 500 according to IS 1786. The dimension
of the steel wire shall be The steel wire mesh shall be
delivered to the site in flat mats or pre-bent to the specified shape.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
The steel wire mesh shall be installed such that it follows as closely as
possible the irregularities of the excavation surface or previous layers of shotcrete.
Steel wire mesh shall be fixed by nailing to the rock surface. it shall be firmly fixed to prevent vibration and change of position during spraying of shotcrete. The steel wire mesh shall be installed in the longest practical length.The overlap of the steel wire meshes applied in the shotcrete lining shall be at least twice the pitch distance in circumferential and one longitude direction.
The wire mesh will be installed so that minimum laps are to be provided for one circumferential layer.

TBM cutterhead
2nd TBM cutterhead lowering at Launching Shaft New Delhi Station for tunnel-496.
Later it will be mounted to cutterhead support this giant which will crush anything from soil to rock weight about 65 tonnes and excavation diameter will be 6.55-meter, manufactured by Herrenknecht.
The finished diameter of the tunnel after precast segment lining will be 5.8m.
Shotcrete
This days Shotcrete at Launching Chamber is in progress as hard rock was encounter during the excavation of it has been terminated 3m to 4m above formation level, so here comes wire mesh, shotcrete & rock bolting to secure the excavated face.
We don't have much scope of Shotcrete in, our project we will be doing dry Shotcrete.
The sequence of the work as follows.
- All material including water will be thoroughly mixed and will be placed on the shotcrete equipment.
- Compressed air will convey material at high velocity to the nozzle where the water and accelerators will be added.
- Finally, the material will be consolidated on the excavated surface by high impact velocity.
