Viscosity of Bentonite

We are using Bentonite Slurry as Soil Stabilizing liquid, We have to check the viscosity to determine whether the slurry is not too thick or too thin.We need the Viscosity of Bentonite slurry between 30sec to 50sec.

Procedure for Determining Viscosity of Drilling Slurry as below.

1-Cover the funnel orifice with a finger and pour 500 cc freshly sampled drilling fluid
through the screen into the clean, upright funnel.
2-Remove finger and start stopwatch.
3-Measure the time for the funnel to empty.
4-Report the time to nearest second as Marsh funnel viscosity.

Solder Pile

This day's pre-bored solider piles work is in progress at my site for the cut and cover and launching chamber area, We are using ISMB  610 x 229 and 610 x 220 sections for soldier piles.

Work sequence is as below, I will try to cover them in my next post.

1. Splicing of ISMB sections.

2. Setting out of soldier piles.

3. Boring of pile using 1.5m casing pipe on the top, bentonite slurry will be used as soil stabilizing liquid.

4. Installation of soldier piles.

5. Backfilling of a borehole with the excavated earth.
